The iconic Eiffel Tower, one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world, is adorned with the five Olympic rings as Paris gets ready to host the 2024 Summer Olympics. This historic 330-meter-tall structure, which once held the title of the world’s tallest, is set to be a central attraction for tourists and athletes alike during the Games.
Over 10,000 athletes from more than 200 countries will compete in 329 events across 32 sports disciplines. The Paris Olympics, running from July 26 to August 11, will introduce four new sports: breaking, skateboarding, surfing, and sport climbing, alongside the 28 traditional Olympic sports. Though the official start of the Games is today, football and rugby sevens events began on July 24.
Near the Eiffel Tower, a temporary outdoor arena has been erected for beach volleyball and blind football events, offering an enthralling experience with a magnificent view. Additionally, the Grand Palais Overlay, a temporary structure on Place Joffre, will host various other events and will be dismantled post-Games.
Despite these preparations, the Eiffel Tower will remain open to visitors throughout the Olympics, except for the day of the opening ceremony on July 26. La Tour Eiffel, the official website of the monument, assures that e-tickets for visits are available, and tickets can also be purchased at the Tower’s ticket offices if online options are sold out. The Tower and its restaurants will continue to welcome visitors daily, even during the Paralympics from August 28 to September 8, maintaining normal operations.
The sparkling lights of the Eiffel Tower, set against the backdrop of the Olympic festivities, promise to offer an unforgettable experience to all who visit Paris during this historic event.
